On July 11, 2015, Dato' Ir. Lee Yee Cheong, Chairman of the Governing Board of the International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation under the Auspices of UNESCO (ISTIC), paid a visit to the headquarters of the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (IKCEST).
Dato' Ir. Lee Yee Cheong was received by Madam Chen Zuoning, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Governing Board Chairperson of the IKCEST, Wu Guokai, Deputy Secretary-General of CAE, Yi Jian, Deputy Director-elect of IKCEST, and staff members of relevant CAE departments.
Yi Jian first briefly introduced the missions and development status of IKCEST. Then the two sides had friendly discussions and expressed interest in future cooperation, especially in strengthening training of engineering sciences and technology personnel in developing countries. The two sides mentioned the Regional Workshop of UNESCO Natural Sciences Related Centres and Chairs in Asia and the Pacific held in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia in late May and expressed hopes to strengthen cooperation among UNESCO natural sciences related centres and contribute to the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
