Map description

Map source

The online map of disaster frequency distribution by disaster type in Hubei Province in 2014 is from the Atlas of natural disasters in China in 2014, the book is edited by the National Disaster Reduction Commission Office, the Disaster relief Department of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the National Disaster Reduction Center of Ministry of Civil Affairs, and is published by China Map Publishing House. The scale of this map is 1:4900000.

Hubei province

In 2014, the disaster situation in Hubei Province was lighter than that in recent years, mainly drought and flood disasters.

1.Less continuous rainfall, and serious summer drought in North and central Hubei

From May to September, the rainfall in most parts of the province was less than 20% compared with the same period of the year, among them, the rainfall in the north of Hubei Province was 50-60% less than that in the north of Jianghan Plain, four counties (cities) ranked the first from the bottom in history. The rainfall in Xiangzhou, Zaoyang, suixian and Jingmen areas during the Meiyu period was only 59-95mm, a decrease of 50-70% over the same period of last year; After the plum, there were three large-scale high-temperature processes in the whole province, water shortage and little rain combined with sunny, hot and high temperature, and severe drought occurred in some areas. Due to the lack of effective water source, water supply was limited in Zaoyang, Dawu and Qianjiang counties and 128 market towns, some villagers had to go out to carry water or rely on the government to deliver water to solve the problem of drinking water. In addition, the summer drought period is the critical period of water requirement for the fixed production of crops in the field, such as mid season rice. The serious "neck drought" has reduced the yield of crops in drought stricken areas.

2.The regional rainfall is concentrated, and the local flood and geological disaster losses are large

In summer, there were five regional heavy rainfall processes in succession, and the southeast, southwest and northeast of Hubei were attacked by rainstorms for many times, from July 4 to 5, the strongest precipitation process occurred since the beginning of plum blossom, the rainfall in 13 counties (cities and districts) in the province exceeded 100 mm, and the maximum rainfall in Fuling, Chongyang, was 179 mm, causing damage to houses and crops. From August 31 to September 1, moderate to heavy rain and local rainstorm occurred in the West, the rainfall in 3 counties (cities) exceeded 100 mm, and that in 7 townships exceeded 200 mm. Heavy rainfall was mainly located in Enshi, the west of Yichang and Shennongjia forest region, the precipitation area was concentrated and lasted for a long time. In addition, the fragile geological environment conditions caused frequent geological disasters in Enshi, Yichang, Shennongjia and other mountainous areas The geological disaster superposition causes the disaster loss to be serious.

The proportion of the total number of disasters in the region (%):

The closer to the dark green area, the higher the proportion of the total number of disasters in the area.

The closer to the light green area, the lower the proportion of the total number of disasters in the area.

The orange sector in the figure shows: Drought disaster.

The blue sector in the figure shows: Floods and geological disasters.

The brown sector in the figure shows: Wind and hail disaster.

The green sector in the figure shows: Typhoon disaster.

The pink sector in the figure shows: Earthquake disaster.

The purple sector in the figure shows: Low temperature freezing and snow disaster.
