Pakistan is faced with many disasters, earthquake being the most serious. The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) area is located in mountainous area and its altitude fluctuates greatly, so it's susceptible to natural disasters. This report mainly introduces the basic situation of natural disasters in GB area and an innovative geospatial technological method for disaster risk reduction in mountainous areas, and illustrates the importance of disaster mapping by taking disaster maps in Saudi Arabia as an example.
