Introduction
The India Meteorological Department was formed in 1875 and is headquartered in New Delhi. It is an organization of the Ministry of geoscience of the government of India. It is the main body responsible for meteorological observation, weather forecast and seismology. It has hundreds of observation stations throughout India and Antarctica, and is one of the six regional professional meteorological centers of the World Meteorological Organization.
