This report documents the 2004-06 drought in a hydrological framework with particular reference to its impact on water resources and the aquatic environment. The drought is also examined within the context of hydrological variability over the last 30 years and an overview is provided of its relative severity and impact when compared with other major drought episodes in England and Wales over the last 200 years.
