The Norwegian Bureau of Meteorology was established in 1866, at first Norwegian astronomer and meteorologist Henrik Mohn served as chairman. It cooperates with the World Meteorological Organization, the European Medium Weather Forecast Center, the European Organization for Meteorological Satellite Applications and the Norwegian International Organization. Some of its international research and monitoring projects include: EMEP, MyOcean, MYWAVE and the Northwest continental shelf oceanographic business system.
