A Flood and Drought Monitoring and Forecasting System over China

Abstract:

A flood and drought monitoring and forecasting system over China using satellite and modeling data has been developed. The system has been implemented at the National Disaster Reduction Center of China, and made the drought and flood risk reduction information available for the Emergency Management Department of China. The system has been applied in the Lancang-Mekong River basin and could improve the availability, access, and use of disaster risk reduction information in the context of transboundary risk management.
