
Montenegro (Serbian: Црна Гора, which is "Black Mountain"). Montenegro is a mountainous country located in the southwest of the Balkans and on the East Bank of the Adriatic Sea, with an area of 13800 square kilometers and a population of 63000. It borders on Serbia in the northeast, Kosovo in the East, Albania in the southeast, BIH and Croatia in the northwest, and the Adriatic Sea in the southwest.
At the end of the 6th century and the beginning of the 7th century, some Slavs migrated to the Balkans. In the 9th century, the Slavs established the " Ducleia " state in the Montenegro area. At the end of the 12th century, it was incorporated into Serbia. In the 15th century, Ottoman Turkey occupied Podgorica and its north area. In 1878, the Berlin Conference recognized Montenegro as an independent state. In 1910, the kingdom of Montenegro was established. After the first World War in 1918, Montenegro was once again incorporated into Serbia and joined the kingdom of Serbia-Croatia-Slovenia. In 1929, it was renamed the kingdom of Yugoslavia. In 1945, the Socialist Republic of Montenegrin was established and became a member Republic of the federal people's Republic of Yugoslavia. After the disintegration of Yugoslavia in 1992, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was jointly formed by Serbia and Montenegro, which was renamed as Serbia and Montenegro on February 4, 2003.
On May 21, 2006, a referendum on independence was held in Montenegro, and the independent faction narrowly won by 55.5%. On June 3, the Montenegro parliament officially declared its independence and restored its independent status before the first World War. On June 22, Serbia and Montenegro officially established diplomatic relations. On June 28, the 60th session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to admit Montenegro as the 192nd member state of the United Nations.
Montenegro is a member of the World Trade Organization and the Mediterranean Union. On December 17, 2010, the EU decided to grant Montenegro EU candidate status. On June 5, 2017, Montenegro officially became the 29th member state of NATO.
On April 15, 2018, Djukanovic won the presidential election in Montenegro.
The climate of Montenegro is mainly temperate continental climate, and the coastal area is Mediterranean climate. The average temperature in January is -1 ℃ and that in July is 28 ℃. The annual average temperature is 13.5 ℃, and the climate in the valley is mild, but the climate in the higher areas is bad. Snow covers most of the year in many high mountains, but it does not melt in some cold valleys. The annual precipitation of Cetinje is more than 3800 mm, and there is precipitation throughout the year, especially in autumn.
The average annual precipitation in Montenegro is 1798 mm. Winter is cold and rainy, and summer is hot and dry. The climate is divided into Mediterranean climate, temperate continental climate and mountain climate according to the topography from south to north.
