Abstract

This report will firstly talk about what is our conceptualization of the emerging domain of “disasters sciences”? what kind of research and educational models might be most effective in preparing our societies to be more disaster-resilient?and What are the implications of the answers to the questions above for our overarching data and information needs? Then, are there creative ways to couple our information needs to the development of our new models of education and research, using the broad field of disasters as a compelling strategic platform?

And the last part of the report will make a brief introduction to the activities of the Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction (IDMR).
